Industrial Lubrication for Parallel Roller Straighteners
Medium and thick plate flatness is a critical quality factor in steel production, with slab straighteners playing an essential role in eliminating unevenness and redistributing residual stress. Parallel roller straighteners have become the preferred choice for their high efficiency and continuous operation, making them indispensable in modern production lines.
Bearing Lubrication in Parallel Roller Straighteners
Bearing Lubrication in Parallel Roller Straighteners
The lubrication system in parallel roller straighteners is crucial for maintaining machine performance. The primary greases used are extreme pressure composite lithium-based greases, polyurea-based greases, and composite calcium sulfonate-based greases. While lithium-based greases are effective, they can lead to high consumption and temperature loss, negatively affecting slab quality. Polyurea-based greases, though efficient, are prone to coking at high temperatures, causing grease blockages and bearing failures. Composite calcium sulfonate-based greases are ideal, offering superior high-temperature performance and structural stability, minimizing grease loss and coking issues.
Working Conditions and Lubrication Requirements
Working Conditions and Lubrication Requirements
Parallel roller straighteners are classified into hot and cold straightening machines, each with specific lubrication needs. Hot straightening machines, operating at temperatures between 450°C and 1000°C, require heat-resistant greases to manage extreme conditions. These machines can generate a maximum force of 24 MN and operate at speeds of up to 150 m/min. Cold straightening machines, working within a temperature range of -25°C to 100°C, require greases that can maintain performance in lower temperatures, with a maximum force of 25 MN and speeds up to 60 m/min.
Regardless of the machine type, the grease must offer excellent anti-wear properties, water resistance, and thermal stability to withstand high temperatures without coking or losing effectiveness. It must also be easily pumpable to support centralized lubrication systems.
Why Proper Lubrication Matters for Straighteners
Why Proper Lubrication Matters for Straighteners
The lubrication system in parallel roller straighteners is essential for smooth and reliable operation. Choosing the right grease, such as composite calcium sulfonate-based greases, helps reduce wear, prevent coking, and ensure stable lubrication under extreme conditions, thereby improving equipment performance and product quality.
